6 Places You Need to Stop on a Road Trip From Georgia to New York
Georgia and South Carolina
Your road trip from Georgia to New York largely depends on your starting point. If you are traveling from the Atlanta area, we recommend that you head north on I-85 until you reach Greenville, SC, and cut across the state to Florence. Here is a route itinerary with directions for this portion of the road trip. If you are traveling from Savannah or South Georiga, get on I-95 and head north until you reach Latta, where you will spend your first night at our beautiful and historic Inn!
Make a dinner reservation at our restaurant for that evening ( make sure you arrive before 7 p.m. for our 7:30 p.m. seating), where classic cuisine and an elegant dining experience combine for a peaceful and relaxing night. Get some rest in one of our comfortable rooms before waking up to a gourmet breakfast!
Your first stop on day two of your road trip from Georgia to Florida is also your last stop of the day. Spend about 6 hours driving north on I-95 through North Carolina and Virginia before arriving just outside of Washington D.C. Check into The Morrison House Hotel in Alexandria before heading out to explore the National Mall and the Smithsonian Museum complex! The Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and Lincoln Memorial are just a few of the many fantastic sights around America’s capital.
Day three of your journey from Georgia to New York has the most stops, but they are all within two and a half hours of each other. Your first stop is Baltimore, where you need to head to a local seafood joint, like Nick’s Fish House, to crack open some famous Maryland crab. After you satisfy your taste buds, explore Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine and the Edgar Allan Poe House before heading north to Wilmington, DE.
The state of Delaware might be small, but the capital city of Wilmington packs in plenty of things to do! Book a night at the Inn at Montchanin Village and check in before enjoying a relaxing spa treatment at the Spa at Montchanin Village. Then tour the grounds of the beautiful Nemours Estate before driving 40 minutes north to the City of Brotherly Love.
Don’t waste any time once you arrive in Philadelphia. Grab a famous Philly Cheesesteak at Tony Luke’s before getting another dose of history at Eastern State Penitentiary, and Independence Hall. Then head back to the Inn at Montchanin Village to get some rest for the final leg of your road trip from Georgia to New York road trip.
Day four of your Georgia to New York road trip only involves around two hours of driving, so if you want to stick around Wilmington or you can push Philadelphia’s activities and attractions to this day.
